On Wednesday 26 June 2024, our faculty hosted a kickoff meeting to launch the Twin Synergies project, part of the Horizon Europe programme, which focuses on strengthening participation and fostering synergies in enlargement countries, with a particular focus on green and digital transformation. The meeting laid the foundations for a transformational journey to improve research and innovation capacities across Europe and prepared participants to successfully tackle challenges and new opportunities.

The Twin Synergies project, which started on 1 May 2024 and runs until 30 April 2026, focuses on narrowing the gap in research and innovation performance between EU member counries. It brings together nine prominent partners from different parts of Europe, who are working to do this by fostering synergies focused on human resource development and international cooperation. The project supports the EU’s strategic objective of creating operational and management synergies, particularly in less developed and peripheral regions. By coordinating cohesion policy with Horizon Europe, Twin Synergies aims to increase the impact of both policies through complementary actions.
