The Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto (FIS) invites you to our Information day, taking place on Thursday, 10 April 2025, at 17:00. This time, we will pay special attention on presenting our master’s and doctoral study programmes, for which the first application period opens on 1 April 2025.

Expanded range of master’s programmes

At the second, master’s level of study, you can now choose from as many as six study programmes. For the academic year 2025/26 we are introducing a new and innovative master’s programme Law and Leadership in Digital Society. This programme provides in-depth legal knowledge, particularly in the fields of digital economy and sustainable development. The programme is therefore designed for those who want to develop the competences for responsible and ethical leadership and to perform successfully as leaders in a dynamic digital environment.

In addition to Law and Leadership, FIS offers five other master’s programmes covering different aspects of information and communication technologies (ICT). Informatics in Contemporary Society is an interdisciplinary master’s programme that combines social science and business knowledge with information technologies. Computer Science and Web Technologies provides an immersion in programming and application development. For statistics and computer enthusiasts, the master’s programme Data Sciences is the right choice. Cyber Security provides comprehensive knowledge on ICT security in organisations, as well as methods and techniques for protection against cyber threats. Business Informatics is a master’s programme that will enhance your knowledge of ICT applications in business and digital transformation strategies for organisations.

Now offering two doctoral programmes

We also offer study opportunities at the doctoral level. Information Sciences is our new doctoral programme, which will be offered for the first time in the academic year 2025/26, and its content is focused on the development and use of digital tools at an advanced level. You can choose between two fields of study: Mathematics of Complex Networks and Computer Sciences.

The doctoral programme Information Society on the other hand prepares students for scientific research and the creation of new knowledge in fields related to the information society.

Hybrid mode of study

At FIS, we offer flexible study opportunities, which allows hybrid participation in lectures and tutorials at all three levels of study. FIS students can individually choose whether to attend lectures in person or online. Another advantage of our master’s and doctoral programmes is that lectures and tutorials take place in the afternoon and occasionally on Saturday mornings.

The first application period for master’s and doctoral study programmes opens on 1 April 2025. To provide more information, FIS is hosting an Information day on 10 April 2025 at 17:00. Like our lectures and tutorials, this will be a hybrid event – in person at the faculty and online.
